In Brief...

  • The Queens Birthday Honours list included two locals: Katherine O'Regan (QSO) and Murray Walter (QSM).
  • Te Awamutu College is setting up a Hall of Fame to recognise the achievements of past pupils. Suggestions for nominees are welcome.
  • A few feathers were ruffled during protests against the visiting Whirling Bros Circus, the only circus in New Zealand still using exotic animals.
  • The Te Awamutu SPCA is raising funds for a new permanent shelter. Call 021 436 543 for details.
  • An increasing number of politicians have been seen around town, including Nandor Tanczos (speaking at the college), Tim Shadbolt (speaking at the Continuing Education Group) and of course all the local candidates for the general election. Remember, plenty of information about the election is available at www.election.govt.nz

See you again next month.

Dave and Richard.
