International Polo Returns to Kihikihi

New Zealand matched up against Australia at the Kihikihi Polo Club today in the major international polo event of this season. Recent stormy weather had put a strain on the ground, but a huge effort by Paul Kay and the Kihikihi Polo Club ensured that the match went ahead.

The hard-fought match ended in an 8-all draw.

The Savile Cup, New Zealand's premier club polo competition, is also being held in Kihikihi and runs from March 9 until March 14. This is one of New Zealand's oldest sporting trophies, having been competed for over 100 years. This year it will attract over 30 teams from around the country.

Bayleys Realty Group are major sponsors, sponsoring the New Zealand team at this weekend's polo international with Australia as well as the Savile Cup in March. John Sherratt, president of the New Zealand Polo Association, says Bayleys' support is assisting the association to maintain a good standard of domestic and international polo competition.

"It's always a challenge for smaller sports like polo to obtain corporate support and we are appreciative of the contribution that Bayleys is making as our principal sponsor."

Bayleys national marketing manager Mark Macky says the sponsorship fits well with the country and lifestyle property sales side of Bayleys business and provides a good opportunity to give something back to the rural community.
