Rose & Cultural Festival 2003Mock Wedding

Off the Wall Theatre Company staged a mock wedding at Out In The Styx Cafe this evening.

The guests arriving for the wedding, were greeted by the overpowering Mother Of The Bride, who endowed them as relations of the bride or groom, some getting right into character from the outset. This set the mood for an evening of fun, frivolity and fantasy, as the groom entered decked out ready for a Halloween theme wedding. His bride, dressed appropriately in black, arrived soon after, and then the fireworks began. With all the interruptions and interjections, would they or wouldn't they get married. But with such a setting as Out In The Styx for a wedding how could it not be a roaring success.

A Guest's Perspective, by Ray Milner

Many of the guests to the "Mock Wedding" and reception at Out in the Stix Cafe had travelled a significant distance to witness the exchange of vows and participate in the non wedding dinner.

Guests met up with old long forgotten friends and acquaintances who it turned out were also connected to either the bride or groom in some way purely and for no other reason than they had booked a ticket.

It turned out that I was Uncle Ray, and my brother who must have died without telling me, had obviously been married to the bride's mother. Why else would she be so attracted to me?

The evening was one of constant revelations and easy laughs enjoyed by all.
