Who will be Miss Rosetown?

A new Miss Rosetown will be crowned this Saturday night from seven young hopefuls taking part in the event.

Making that difficult decision will be judges Waipa Mayor Alan Livingston, current Miss Rosetown Meredith Hodgson and Scream Rosetown Festival committee member Karen Holland, who also represents major festival sponsors Waipa Networks.

The title will be contested by Hesta Beal (Miss Fieten Motor Services), Julie Campbell (Miss Yarndley Farms), Rose Cocks (Miss Te Awamutu Courier), Sarah-Jane David (Miss Sanders Chemist), Kristy Southall (Miss Te Awamutu i- Site), Melinda van Meygaarden (Miss Photo Magic) and Danielle Wilson (Miss Mitchell Farm Services).

Hesta (16), Julie (16) and Danielle (18) are all students at Te Awamutu College. Rose (20) and Melinda (19) work in the classified advertising department at the Te Awamutu Courier. Sarah-Jane (19) is a pharmacy assistant for her sponsor and Kristy (20) is a student at Wintec.

The pageant takes place at The Woolshed Theatre at 8pm this Saturday. Tickets are available from contestants or the Courier and door sales if not a sell-out.

As well as the Miss Rosetown title and chance to represent Te Awamutu in Miss World New Zealand events, the winner will receive the use of a car from Watson Haworth Motors, a diamond pendant from Beamish Gemtime Jeweller, flowers from The Bloom Room, a voucher for two to enjoy the luxury of Te Aroha Mineral Pools, St Ives and Body Shop products from Sanders Chemist, a paua bracelet and dress ring from i-Site and chocolates and wine courtesy of 3 Guys Supermarket.

The runner-up will be presented with a freshwater cultured pearl bracelet with nine carat gold beads from Beamish Gemtime Jeweller, flowers from The Bloom Room, a service voucher from Wilksbrooke Motors, Thermal Mud face pack and Volcanic soap from i-Site and chocolates and wine courtesy of 3 Guys Supermarket.

Third place prize is a freshwater cultured pearl bracelet with sterling silver beads from Beamish Gemtime Jeweller, flowers from The Bloom Room and chocolates and wine courtesy of 3 Guys Supermarket.

The girls will be wearing clothing from CBR and Postie Plus.

Host for the evening is The Breeze DJ Robbie Walker and there will some cool jazz in the breaks from four piece band Zebra.
