Firefighter at the Gama fire scene

By Dean Taylor
Plumbing fitting manufacturers Gama Sales lost everything when their Rickit Road premises was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

On duty police constables Bernadette Kelly and Nick Sickelmore spotted thick smoke from Albert Park Drive and upon investigation found the building well alight.

They called in the fire at about 12.30am. It was attended by firefighters from Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Hamilton.

Detective Mark Smith says fire safety officers combed the scene yesterday and initial investigations suggest an electrical fault was the cause of the blaze and there is nothing suspicious.
