Waipa District is part of a region-wide Civil Defence Emergency Management Group administered by Hamilton City Council staff. For local control and co-ordination there is provision for a local Incident Control Point to be established in Te Awamutu.

Part of the National Visitor Information Network, the Centre is situated in Gorst Ave, opposite the beautiful Rose Gardens and within walking distance of the Trust Waikato Te Awamutu Events Centre and Livingstone Aquatic Centre, as well as the CBD.
